The newest sculpture at the Vandalia Art Park is giving the Vandalia community a big hand... actually two!

Put into place recently, the Vandalia Arts Council selected the Humanity Team from West Virginia to design and fabricate this metal sculpture titled “COMMUNITY – Come Sit in Unity”

The piece is made from several forms of welded steel with plasma cutouts forming the hands and flying birds with the cutouts adding equally impressive windows within the steel plates. The steel birds were welded a the top of the sculpture and heavy-gauge hammered copper covers the seating and were welded to the frame.

This impressive piece is approximately 6 ft. x 8 ft. with a 9 ft. height.

This permanent sculpture now sits prominently at the park and invites visitors to sit and appreciate our community.  The VAC funded this project through the Vandalia Arts Fund, part of the Vandalia-Butler Foundation and held by the Dayton Foundation.
