State Rep. Jay Edwards | The Ohio House of Representatives
The Ohio House of Representatives passed House Bill 370 yesterday, a piece of legislation designed to alleviate the financial burden on Ohio’s villages and ensure uniform standards for the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), announced bill sponsor State Rep. Jay Edwards (R-Nelsonville).
Under the new legislation, ODOT will be required to maintain and repair state routes that run through villages. Some of the department's responsibilities will include snow plowing, lawn mowing, and resurfacing.
“This legislation directly aides Ohio’s villages,” said Edwards. “It is not the responsibility of our villages to maintain state roads using resources they do not have.”
The bill now moves to the Ohio Senate for consideration.
