A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to Dekalb County, Illinois, regarding vendor payments made from January 1 to September 26, 2024. The request was sent by us at DeKalb Times on September 26, 2024.
The request specifically asked for a list of all payments made to vendors within the specified period. We requested details such as the name of the vendor, the date of each transaction, a description of each transaction, and the amount paid in each transaction.
As an organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe access to public records is essential for our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
Given our role in disseminating information, we have also sought a fee waiver as a media professional under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.
We are awaiting a response from Dekalb County officials and will keep our readers updated on any developments.
