City of Athens Upgraded Existing Cameras and Installed Additional New Cameras in the Parking Garage

450e

The City of Athens has recently upgraded existing cameras and installed additional new cameras in the Parking Garage in an effort to combat significant vandalism.  Since installation, at least three different people have been recorded, arrested and criminally charged with tagging or graffiti on the top floor of the garage.  It is a crime to deface public property and the City of Athens is intent on charging individuals captured on video engaged in such activity.  The camera's feed is livestreamed directly into police dispatch 24/7.  The City has both visible and covert cameras installed and the cameras are of such resolution to allow for easy identification after an incident.  Citizens may report a crime by calling Police Dispatch at 740-592-3313
