State Rep. Jay Edwards | The Ohio House of Representatives
State Representative Jay Edwards (R-Nelsonville) has introduced a bill to designate Joe Burrow Highway in Athens, Ohio. The proposed stretch of highway will be located beside Athens High School, where Burrow attended and where the football stadium is currently named after him.
"I don’t tend to sponsor road naming bills, but I believe Joe Burrow is worthy of the cause," said Edwards. "He has never forgotten his hometown and has contributed significantly to southeast Ohio, especially through his fight against hunger in Appalachia."
Burrow, an Ohio native and former quarterback for the LSU Tigers, has made a lasting impact on his community. Through the Joe Burrow Hunger Relief Fund, he has supported the operations of the Athens County Food Pantry, which serves residents of Athens County, Ohio, who experience food insecurity.
The introduction of this legislation is a testament to Burrow's dedication to his hometown and his efforts to make a difference in the lives of those in need. The bill now awaits a bill number and committee assignment before it can move forward in the legislative process.
